Anyone built forward controls out of used parts

I rather like the idea of fitting some forward controls to my 79 special.
I intend to keep the original bars or maybe something similar but a bit lower.


I rarely see bespoke forward controls for the XS650 so I thought I'd try make some out of used parts from other bikes.

Wondered if anyone had done this and could give me some tips and suggestions for compatible brackets, pegs, etc.? I'll be roughly following the standard pattern of those made by TCBros I expect but perhaps not quite so agricultural.

There was a great thread on this using the stock parts, modified, with pictures. Maybe a year or two ago. I'd be interested in a link to this too.

Using the advanced search feature I actually found over 20x threads on this subject which made interesting reading but none of them specifically deal with cannibalising controls from other models or makes of bike which is what I am hoping to do.
