So I have a 1980 xs650 special II with mikuni carbs and just put in pamco and tcbros xs charge the other day. After I had installed these the bike was running and starting up fine. Ran it for about an hour with no problems. Cameback the next day i would get it started and it ran for a few seconds then die. I started it on choke let run for a couple of mins then it would die again. Kept on doing this with choke on and off. Today I cleaned the carbs and put them back on and did the same thing.
any suggestions on the problem?

thanks

Sounds like its running rich on idle

Check that both choke valves are returning to fully seated position when the choke is turned off.

As gggGary says..... check your spark plugs they will tell you how each cylinder is running at idle . Give them a thorough clean before testing.

Also use a voltmeter to check your battery voltage when on idle to make sure there is sufficient voltage for the PAMCO to operate
NOTE Don't crank the engine with either of the spark plug leads disconnected
