Canceling Unit?

I am pretty sure this is this canceling unit but it has one extra wire not shown on the wiring diagram in my Haynes book. The extra wire is a white\red one?

the canceling unit only has 5 wires

Yeah I understand but everything matches up except the sixth extra wire which is white/red.

only info i have for canceling unit is

but my service manual only goes to 1981

I have all of those wires and also a w\r wire.

Do you need the canceling unit? I'd just get rid of it. The are more problems then good.

Your right littlebill31. I am in the process of making my own wiring harness and I was taking stock of what was on the old one. I just wanted to make sure that this was the canceling unit. I took a closer look at the wires on the female side of the connector and they just have the five correct wires so I think we have successfully troubleshooted this issue. Thank you for all of your help.
