checking the enricher on 1972 XS2

Can someone jump on and tell me how big of a deal is it to repair or replace the enricher/choke assembly on my XS2?

Second question which should have been first is, would a faulty choke/enricher assembly make the bike hard to start or run rich or lean?

Answers to both would be greatly appreciated.

Easiest way if you can get the bike started is,once its running with the enricher off,pull it on,if engine note climbs then its working ok,

That's funny you say that cause when i pull my choke on, it will kill the engine. Needless to say my choke is not working properly and would like to get to the bottom of that.
