Choke must be partially on to run

All of a sudden I need to have my choke partially on in order for both cylinders to fire.If I take the choke off one cylinder starts poping intermitantly.Can anybody give me a direction to go?

Thoroughly clean your pilot jets and pilot circuits.

clean them carbs!! just like D.muscle said, your pilots are plugged.

From personal experience, also make sure your points are properly set. I was trying to chase down carb demons for a couple months before I realized my points weren't gapped.

Also if you do not already have them installed, slap on a pair of fuel filters.

I think I've got other problems.I cleaned carbs.jets,ports,circuits and it didn't help.While the engine was running I pulled a plug wire off the dead cylinder and there was no spark.I have transistor ign. so its not the points.What now, new coil??

Bad plug. Bad plug wire. Bad plug wire cap. The way the TCI ignition works is it fires both plugs at the same time. If one plug is firing then the coil is probably ok. Check the wires, caps and plugs.
