I have a Mini 3 Pro which I crashed recently. The crash broke the gimbal and one of the motors wasn't spinning freely, so I took it to a drone repair shop that specialises in DJI drone repairs. It cost $314 to repair. I picked it up today and discovered it was in a brand new DJI drone box, wrapped in plastic with the battery that was in the drone when I took it in.. I thought that a bit odd, so, I unwrapped it only to find it wasn't my drone that I dropped in for repair, it was a new one.
Apparently, drone repair shops must return drones needing repair to DJI and instead of repairing them, DJI issue new ones. I'm not complaining, my drone was bashed around a bit: numerous scratches and dirty. Makes me wonder if perhaps they can't be repaired?

Anything can be repaired if you're willing to throw enough money at it. In this case replacing was probably cheaper than repairing. Given the savings of mass production, that's often the case.

It was a pretty simple repair actually, the gimbal was only $45 on ebay. Unfortuantely, to repair you have to have the right tools, only a DJIM repairer would have them. The camera is another matter: $400-$500, thank christ I didn't wreck that. A new drone only was around $700.
