Short answer is yes, on the stock set up they used a larger M/C on the dual disc.
On the early two piston caliper, the single disc used a 16 mm M/C, on the dual they used a 20 mm M/C.
On the later single piston caliper they used a 14 mm M/C, I think the dual used an 18 mm, not sure on that. They do have a different part number.
I know on the later single piston caliper, dual disc set up the 14 mm M/C works very well. You can improve the brake by using a single disc and a 10 or 11 mm M/C.
I think on the older two pistons caliper used as a dual the 16 mm may work, I haven't tried it myself. On the older two piston single disc a 13 or 14 mm M/C should work out.
