Hi folks. I’m really new to fixing my 77 xs750. I’ve had the bike for close to 20 years now and haven’t had any real problems with it. I let the bike sit for the winter and the carburetors got gummed up. I cleaned the carbs really well and did a K&L carb kit to the bike. I start the bike now and it “chirps”. I’m not sure, but it sounds like an air leak possibly. I pulled the tach cable to see if that was the problem but that wasn’t it. Could I get some direction on what I could do to alleviate this problem. Thanks!!

With engine running spray WD40 or Carb Cleaner carefully around the carbs to locate any leaks, especially around the rubber boots where the carbs connect to the intake ports. The WD40 or Carb Cleaner will temporarily seal a fine leak or get sucked in and burnt as extra fuel. The engine with change its tune when you hit a leak. Good Luck as it is a bit more difficult working with 3 carbs.
