What year bike is it? The coil should work fine but I'm not sure about the rec/reg. On my 81 the alternator wires were all in one big connection going to the reg/rec. Someone more savvy will know for sure.

I meant the reg/rect, not the coil. My motor I believe decoded to an 81 but it had points ignition, so someone had messed with it at some point. My reg and rect are 2 separate pieces but the rect doesn't work. I will check to see how many pins are in my connectors.

4m4-004908 is the number stamped into my engine.

My regulator is 3 pin and my rectifier has a 6 pin connector (only 5 pins used). Will this reg/rect work for me?

From what I've learned in the last week or so, you need to know what year regulator this is, then also decode what you have. Then depending on either setup you may need the plastic screw mods.

Go look at the last thread I made, and there is a wiring diagram that peanut posted, along with some info from xsLeo as well that may help you.
