o rings head cover?

those dont go there were deadchef has them. I think he had them there so he wouldnt lose them.
 
Hi guys, I swear I'll get this back together soon.

I see I'm supposed to put 4 red o-rings on before putting the head cover on. I see some pictures, like this thread:

that show some sleeves.

I don't have the sleeves (82 engine)

am I missing them or what? seems to me that the orings have nothing to go around..???:wtf:

There are 4 sleeves (with o rings) that go into the cylinder head cover. They are there because the 4 outer engine studs are exposed to engine oil pressure (oil supply to rocker spindles and cam shaft cams). The Haynes manual shows them, page 43.

Yes, if yours are still in the top cover then there's no need to disturb them or replace their o-rings. The only reason they need to be removed is if you plan on pulling the rocker arm shafts out. The sleeves block them.
