hi guys i have only just converted my trusty 1976 xs650 back to points like it used too be 18months ago... and i,m trying to get it started up i did not play with the points as they were on the main points plate so they went back on together,,, the points lobe is on the small pin and i,m getting spark from each spark plug there is a small nick in the points plate and the motor right near the top mounting screw that hold the plate,, so i,ve lined those 2 lines up as well .... it nearly starts and it is not back firing,,, any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated regards oldbiker

You're going to need to static time it since it isn't running yet. Get the timing close enough that way so it will start, then use a timing light on it to get the timing exact. I'm assuming the points are used so the only way to accurately gap them would be by using a dwell meter.
