re-positioning bendix spring,,,

hi guys ,,,, i,ve looked at my current bendix spring ,,which is on the left side of a small ridge on the bottom of the side case...do i place it in the gully or the right hand side of the shallow gully ....my gear does not look to bad ... so i.m going to go with what i,ve got ...i do have a new yamaha bendix clip to use... a guy in victoria i know has done a lot of these but he,s 650 k away.. his advice was even with a new clip before installing itcheck for little ridges on the inside.. ,,,if any stone or a small file remove the ridges so it sits all around .. to get better tension .....am i right putting it on the right side of the small ridge at the bottom of the case regards oldbiker

The drag clip was updated in about 1976. The new one is larger and will not fit in the original case notch. It should be placed to the right of it like so .....
