Hi guys, I'm in the middle of my first build and have been looking all around to find how you are mounting the rear MC when using the aftermarket rear sets. Most I've seen are using either drum brakes or non-stock MC in a non-stock location.

Can someone post up some pics of how they set the linkage up and the brake light switch trigger with your rear sets to help figure out the mounting?

Thanks.

Hi,

This is what I did on my Cafe racer build

All controlled with a hydraulic switch for the brake light - Something like the below, there are many variants

That's friggin sweet but I have no access to a machine shop and need to use off the shelf stuff. Surely with all the rear sets for sale out there there's a way to utilize the stock MC and reservoir?

Sorry, never tried that. The cafe one was pretty much of the shelf, with only some simple tools required. If you perhaps pop up a photo of what you've got so far and hold in position what you're trying to achieve with the MC, it may help come up with some ideas

Yeah I don't have the controls yet and am looking to get some advice from others before I go drop the money on some. The ones I've been looking at mount to the stock studs. Ryca, MikesXS, Dime City all make some that use the stock mounting locations but none mention or show anything about hooking up the MC.

Yep, that's where you're left to your own devices somewhat. There'll definately need to be some sort of fabrication. You can get universal master cylinders that are nicer, lighter etc than the oe version. Might make it easier to choose your rear sets.

Can you weld to the frame or are you not planning to repaint?

Welding is an option but budget is somewhat limited (isn't that always the case lol). For the rear brake, I'd be just fine using the factory stuff if I can figure out a way to make it work without having to machine something.
