Tank Removal how to w/ pics.......

Anyone steer me to a thread with a "how to" tank removal on my 72 xs650? Thanks, been searching and can't find one......

Raise or remove seat. Shut off petcocks. Disconnect fuel lines at petcock(s). Remove 10mm bolt from rear tank mounting tab. Lift rear of tank off mounting point. Withdraw tank to the rear, it will come free of the front mountings as you lift and pull to the rear.

Some years don't use a bolt to hold the rear of the tank down. The seat holds it down.

Really! I thought there was a bolt broken off in one so I drilled and tapped it.

Yours may have been a broken off bolt. My 75 never had a bolt.
I'm not sure what years had bolts, I guess a person could go through the parts fiche somewhere year by year and figure it out.
