I have checked out VIN/Model lists to confirm year of my bike but can't find exact match. I am thinking it is a 1972 but would like to confirm before I start ordering parts.

Engine and Frame number are both same - S650-123112

Anyone out there confirm the year for me?

XS2........... Numbers between S650-100101 and S650-133900.

Makes yours the 23,012th of the line

Hi Yippie,
yeah, Skull's sticky sez Canadian model 72-73 TX650 serial no. S650??????
which leaves us in some doubt, eh?
Look at the photos in Skull's sticky.
If it's still in original paint, check the colour.
Post saying what parts you need and ask an early-model expert if there's a difference between models for that part.

Put your glasses on and read it again fred...................................i haven't confirmed if there was ever a Canadian 73 TX650 model. ................The numbers given match XS2 models.

When Canada Converted to Metric road distances is probably when the Canadian XS650 models became a separate no........Possibly/Probably/who knows, without someone confirming.

77D had a Canadian separate model, as confirmed by a Canadian 77D Parts manual

Hi Skull,
admittedly I need to wear bifocals and my night vision ain't what it was but my colour perception still works OK.
And there it is!
Right in your chart!
Highlighted in green!
TX650(Can) 72-73 356 S650??????
I don't notice where it says "unconfirmed" though.
Which is why an XS650 owner in Rocky Mountain House Alberta, or indeed, any Canadian XS650 owner, might suppose the information applied to his machine, eh?
And if you care about Canadian Metrication, look here:-

No doubt ..the chart confirms the number is from an XS2.
