Ever since I found a beaten and battered XS1 I have been scrounging parts to restore it. It had the wrong front end on it and while I found forks, fender, trees, etc., I had not been able to find the one year, one model only reflector trim rings that go on top of the gaiters. After some detective work I found that the same gaiters were used on a few different bike, most did not use a reflector trim, but one did, the 1969-70 DS6C.

I was able to find a pair of these NOS and here were the differences. The DS6 used a 32mm fork tube while the XS1 used a 34, so that needed to be opened up. The DS6 trim ring covered much more of the boot and tree than the XS1, so that needed to be trimmed.

An original and a copy, both use 5mm reflectors.

now you should get one of those brush on nickel plating kits and touch up the raw steel edges.........
