    rectifier max output voltage?

Hi What is the max output voltage from the rectifier when revving the bike 3000 and above? If I understand it correctly it shouldn't output more than 14.5 V. Or? BTW, is the regulator and rectifier the same unit? My old battery was unexpectly drained, so I kickstarted the bike and went out...

    handlebar holder damper

During my first ride this season I notices that the handlebar holder damper seemed a bit loose. I tried to tighten them, but it seems there is a stop. Does this mean that the damper rubber is worn out? Didn't notice this last year. From outside it looks like the original ones have been changed...

When having the handlebar exactly 90 degrees, the bike tend to turn slightly. How can this be? I thought that the forks lower part self...

incorrect torque spec for caliper hex bolts in Haynes?

So, I stripped one of the two caliper hexa bolts when mounting the two caliper halves together. :banghead:  Haynes said 43-73 ft.-lb (6-10) mkg. Even though it sounded suspicously high I started working my way up and finally stripped one bolt and hole. Are these torque spec really correct...

Throttle sleeves, plastic vs original alloy

I saw that replacement throttle sleeve are plastic. Mine is alloy. What's your experience on the plastic one? Would the plastic make the throttle respond quicker and better than the original alloy sleeve? Or does it just wear out soon?

New caliper seals the wrong size?

Are my new caliper seals the wrong size? See image, I've put the new on top of the old. The new is approx 3 mm wider than the old. Before contacting the seller I want to know if I missed something. I just can't get them to fit in the caliper. I ordered them from Powerhouse Automotive in the...

    Stainless steel caliper pistons

I'm thinking of buying stainless steel caliper pistons instead of traditional ones. The store is reliable, sells rd parts and normally sells them to yamaha rd owners, but has also sold these to xs owners. What's your opinion on stainless vs ordinary steel like those sold at i.e mikesxs or...

brake disc don't fit with new brake pads

Have a B -75... with 34 mm forks. So, I bought a new pair of brake pads and they fit nicely in the caliber holes. But when putting back the wheel/rotor, there is not enough space between the pads for the rotor. And no, it doesn't have to do with not squeezing the piston enough...

    aluminium corrosion

I usually have the bike indoors in a warm place. This is what happened after having it outside for a week under a bike cover. :yikes: It rained some times during this time, but it stood on pebbles/sand. Has anyone experienced this? I disconnected the battery and after a few weeks now it's the...

    rear shock extender

Just wanted to share and tip about raising the rear part of the bike. I did it for the look and for perhaps achieving better handling. I got the tip about using longer shocks (thanks grizld1!) when discussing tyres heights. Since I like my Koni shocks, a pair of longer good ones would cost a...

Tire dimensions to get a more horisontal look of the bike

I'm going to buy new tires. Since the front is 19" and the rear is 18", I want to even out a little bit the height difference by choosing a higher rear tire and a lower front tire. Have anyone experimented with this? Any reflections from anyone? I'm thinking about buying Avon AM26...

thicker oil to stop small oil leakage?

After retorqueing all 8 big nuts to 30, the RHS back corner of the cylinder base is still sweating when driving. :( Doesn't leak when hot and idling. It's not really a big issue, but it's annoys me. An engine should not leak! Have anyone experienced that a thicker oil have been a solution to...

    starter not disengaging, did before

After stretching the return spring because of starter not disengaging quickly enough (1-2 sec extra), I put everyting back together. The bike fired upp great, but now it doesn't disengage at all. It grinds on. Pushing the button when started doesn't change the grinding sound. So either the...

    tach cable stuck

I've tried to remove the tachometer cable from the RH cover, but it will not come off. Completely stuck. As I understand it, one should just pull it out. Shouldn't be a problem. I've read some threads on the issue, and it seems that it can be stuck sometimes, especially after long time use...

    rattling loose bendix gear clip

My starter don't engage, but does grinding noise. Have removed the RH cover but not the clutch yet. It seems though, when looking beneath the clutch assembly, that the bendix gear, spring and clip may have already been replaced once, since the clip now is placed according to later...
