PMA kit - battery voltage question

Hi all, I've had my Hugh PMA for several months, it's been working great but I do have one question: What type of voltage am I expected to get at the battery? I'm getting just about 13 volts @ 3000 RPM, does this sound in the ballpark for what others are getting? thanks! Aaron

    Circuit breaker?

Has anyone had any experience with this kind of circuit breaker in place of a fuses? Its labeled as an 12v auto reset circuit breaker, they have them at the Auto Zone near me for different amp settings... I'm not sure how the auto reset function works once it's blown. If it's overloaded...

Rear brake - wheel shifts when braking?

HI all, 1980 Special, TC Bros hardtail: When I apply my rear disc brake, I feel a very slight shift of the entire rear end a bit to the right (as I'm slowing to a stop). There's no play or slop in the axle or wheel from left to right, the chain is at the proper tension. This is with...

    Spark at battery ground!

Hi all, My battery is currently grounded to the battery box itself, which is still unpainted raw steel. Whenever I hit the starter button, I get sparks at the point where the battery ground wire is screwed to the battery box. Looks very cool, but I don't want to set the bike on fire one day...

    Low power after fusebox, uneven idle... H E L P !

This is a new problem, have put only about 50 miles on the bike so far, it was so far so good until today. So I was "stalled bike guy" today taking a drive through town. Was at a 4 way light, waiting to go, and bike starts idling very roughly, sputtering, missing, sounds like it's about to...

    Kickstand scraping - TCBros hardtail

I'm running a TCBros hardtail, stock front and rear rims/tires. Stock forks up front (not lowered). I kept the stock kickstand, and it's scraping when I take left turns, I think it's either the little peg on the kickstand or the circular foot portion, I'm not sure. I'm not leaning very...

Is my battery shot? Or my starter?

Help! Simplified wiring diagram, pamco and PMA swap. My bike started fine just last week. I have a volt meter that shows my battery at a charge between 12v and 13v. But when I go to start it, the starter barely turns over, and my voltmeter starts to drop the more I try, it's gotten as low...

Bleeding Rear Brake - not working!

I was able to get my front brake done in about 10 minutes. But when I moved on to the rear brake, I'm unable to get any pressure/resistance at the pedal. New rear MC, new brake lines, and a rebuilt rear caliper. The piston is not frozen. I'm using a speed bleeder and I'm assuming the system...

Carb sync question: Mikes XS Performance PWK kit?

Hi all, Can someone give me a quick rundown on the procedure to properly sync these carbs? Is this done differently with the dual throttle cable set up as opposed to the way you sync the original BS38s? I've borrowed a friend's set of vacuum gauges and am ready to give it a go. thanks...

    Starter solenoid necessary?

Edit update: I figured it out It's my 1980 xs650 SG, I'm working on a complete re-wire, following one of the simplified wiring diagrams, running a PMA swap and Pamco. My question is: Is it possible to run the starter without a starter solenoid/relay? Did PO possibly remove it? I don't even...
