Pretty sure I'm using these Keihin carburetors

So, I pulled the springs from the cylinder & getting it ready to go to the machinist. I should not pull the valve guides, right--hell, I'm not even sure I can--but am I overlookin' something that should come off? Also, these guide seals are in pretty good shape but one of them is ripped...

I'm new ta chrome plating anything, normally I like dull colors, but I've a pretty nice springer here & I'm thinking of havin' it plated, maybe nickle or chrome, probably nickle but haven't fully decided. Because I figure each of 'em are 'bout the same cost, regardless, & I know not all platers...

This is those exhaust pipes w/ the (not quite) stainless steel over tube-- If I cut these into shorty straight pipes am I committing some sort of sin?!

Is this the masterlink on the cam chain? Its hard to tell in the pix but it looks like a very small slot end & on the other side an equally small phillips head. None of my screw drivers fit, is that what it is or, is there a special tool, is that a star nut? BTW '76 447 cam engine Pix--

I measured with a couple speed squares & some welding levels. Seemed okay to me. I also strung some string between the axle holes & center of the steer tube/head bolt, measuring from side to side with a mm tape & it looked good-- Got some other way I should look at?

Does any one have a good reason I can't use a Triumph Unit construction chopper frame for a '76 (I think) XS650? All I see on the belly of the engine that I need to avoid is an access pan--those are fragile--I know from Kzs & the starter which I will probably do away with. The pan is about 7-8"...
