I installed the cam with the punch mark horizontal and the line vertical to the engine head while the left piston was at TDC. I later read that it must be on the compression stroke when installing cam is this true? Cause apparently i did it on a different stroke.
How tight should new bearings be on the ends of a cam shaft? The four external bearings, not the bushings.

I'm starting a new thread as I go through my adjustments rather than continuing to update my intro page.
So, the first recommended steps were to do in order, the cam chain adjustment, valve adjustment, timing, then carbs. I'm on step 1. If you didn't catch my intro...I literally am...
I've made a little video to show how to adjust the cam chain tensioner. It is pretty straight forward to begin with, but video tutorials, which I like better, help compliment written instructions.
Please note that this should be done with a warmed engine.
Ok guys, let's get started.
First - Un-screw the phillips head on the out side of the rocker top.
After thats out of the way, now you have to punch out the guides for the alignment rods to access the rocker pivot slug.
For this, i used an 8mm socket. It was the perfect size...

Is there any way to rivet the new chain with out the $44 tool from mikes
