72xs2 engine in 74tx frame, have a footpeg problem

As you can see from the photo, the stock xs2 foot pegs I have interfere with the bottom of the kick starter such that i cannot slide the bracket over the upper mount stud. Are the foot pegs for the tx650 different, so if i get a set I will be ok? Or will I have to make (rig) something?

Cole Foster Hand Grips from Low Brow Review

I first saw these grips on Facebook through Cole Foster, when I saw them on Low Brow I knew I had to give em a try. And for $25 It seems like a pretty good deal! They come in this nice metal box I put these on my TCbros 7/8 Apes, they slid right over the throttle that TCBros sells also...

which years and models had the high rise bars ?

Trying to source a throttle cable for my 79 Special 2F0 US import and there seems to be some confusion with my supplier about the length and style of the cable for late bikes . Its probably because I'm buying from a UK supplier ...perhaps the late Euro bikes didn't have the ape hanger bars ...

How do your bars and wiring clean up?

There has been a few threads on this but I just wanna know how many of you all run a three position ignition switch like a car? I only have to run ignition switch, high/low, horn and kill at that point. Greatly reducing the amount of switches. Just got legally inspected without blinks so I'm...

'77 XS final issues- I am about to get her back on the road

I am about done rebuilding an XS that was wrecked in May of 2011. In that wreck, the damage done was surprisingly minor. Pegs, Bars, Levers, and exhaust were all toast. I sold the bike in that condition over the objections of my daughter who was on the bike for the wreck. My friend who bought it...

    Handlebar clamping area diameter?

Handlebar shopping and the ones I am interested in are 7/8" bars, but the specs refer to a 1" clamping area width. You would think I would have noticed by now, but are stock bars on a Special 1 inch at the clamps? Do I have my head up my ass on this?

    Question about kill switch.

I am almost to the wiring stage of my bobber build, and am gathering bits. I've got the fuse block, starter solenoid, ignition switch etc. One thing I see recommended by lots of very knowledgable wiring guys on this site is to wire in a kill switch somewhere on or near the hand controls. My...

    Correct Speedometer...

I have a 21" front wheel from a 1974 Honda XL125 on my build. It has a built in speedo drive. Other than using a stock Honda unit, how do I choose a speedometer to work with it? Are they all the same? What do I need to know? (ratios & stuff)

Advice on front brake resi needed

Currently my bike has drag bars on it. I want to run a different front brake resi bc the old stock one is goofy looking and... Well old and crusty. I want something that will sit level on the bars and not be so big and bulky looking. Anyone have any advice? Any aftermarket options out there...

Internal throttle and clutch... who's done it?

Just sitting here at work brainstorming and was wondering who here has done an internal throttle and or clutch? I'm looking at the Demon cycle kit and it seems fairly straight forward. I'm more concerned with the internal clutch set up with making sure that there's enough leverage to...

    XS1 Horn Button?

Been a while... Anyway, I just put my 1970 XS1 on the road after a couple years of working on it, but am plagued by the lack of a horn again. The control is there, as well as a spring where the button is supposed to be, but I don't have the rest of the internals to have the horn function...

brake pedal how do I put it back?

I can't find this in the manual, I've lost the bolt that goes in there, I've used other bolts but their threads seem to hit the "spikes" that this slides onto and I can't get it on more than half way. Without a bolt it pushes on fine. I can't drop in bolt from the top as the frame is in the...

Extend the life of your handlebar levers

I love Magura levers, acquired a set in 1975. But, control levers eventually wear-out at the pivot hole. You can either replace (if you can find them), or try to bush the pivot hole. But if that pivot hole is already worn, good luck drilling out in original location. I like to bush levers...
