tires

It's time to order some new tires for my '81 Special. Currently I have Dunlop D404's for the front and rear. I haven't had issues with handling or quality but I'd like to possibly try something new. Any recommendations? I have about 300 dollars to spend between the tires and installation. :bike:

I've searched all over the site and have seen the various opinions on tires. From all of that it really looks like the one that's tried and true for price, durability, performance are the Shinko 712's. Some time in the next few years (sarcasm), I want to have my xs back together as a cafe style...

I can barely read my back tire and I can't read anything on my front. I have a 1981 Yamaha XS650 Special II. I want to know... A) What size tire do I need for the front and the rear? B) Do I need a tube or a tubeless design tire? Thanks! :shrug:

I've welded a TC Bros hardtail onto a 1971 frame. I have the original rims, 19front 18rear. I like the looks of the wider high sidewall tires I'm seeing on the bobbers. How far up can I go on tire size with the original rims? Also, I see that my axle is going to be 1/2 inch short now...

Anyone running wider tires and wheels on their bikes. Curious as to what sizes are being used. Not looking to run a 200 or something stoopid wide, but like the old school fat tire look. Sorting out maybe running 15 inch or 16 inch wheels with a 130 or 150 front with a 150 rear.
