Fazer Blue Spot Caliper

So Ive been told that 4 and 6 piston calipers dont fit on front spoked rims. It will interfere with the spokes. I was hoping to use this brembo caliper for a single disc front brake and a 11mm master cylinder like this on in picture. I think it should work? and if it doesnt any suggestions? also have this Ducati disc on order. Thanks Guys

Also need to use some sort of remote master so that I can use a cable of my brake lever. Hope it all works

Anythings possible Mellowyellow, there is not much clearance between the cast spokes & my blue spot caliper, about 1mm if I remember. But I have seen that very same caliper on an SR500 with a spoked wheel, see HEREand HERE for some variations on calipers on XS's
Good luck & if I can help in any way, just ask
Cheers Kev

Thanks Kev, I am sure I will need some help once I get all the parts together but its good to know it should work and I did some research and it looks like that brake master should work perfect for my plans (should be 11mm).

Found a nice 11mm front master cylinder from a Triumph Legend TT2000, its a nissin make and has a mirror mount too  cost £15 off ebay
Hopefully get it fitted this weekend & let ya know what its like

Thats the size of master cylinder I bought for my set up Mellowyellow
Still aint got around to fitting it due to work & the carb mounts splitting again :wtf:
But hope to get it fitted within the next week or two & ill let you know what the feel is like :bike:
(did you look at the vintage brake chart?) HERE

Thanks Kev, Yup I took a look at the chart. Just ordered everything I think im going to need off ebay now its just waitin on the parts (as always).

Then I will have to get down to building the bracket and spacers.

Heres what I got comming from ebay (good price) and I wont need half of it but like i said the price was right.

They'd be unlikely to help you mate, you'll need to fit the disc & set the caliper in position before you know what you need to do.

Not sure how accurate this info is because its second hand but it seems to be from a reliable source. Hope it helps

Great question and i have no idea, i think for myself im going to have to wait until i get the disc and then find out what the offset is. My disc is off a 1999 DUCATI 750 SS once I get all the parts together I will let you no what the offset is and keep you guys posted on the progress.

Sorry, I meant which year calipers should I be looking for? I know they are Yamaha, but which model/year. They kinda look like the calipers I had on my 04 R6.

Mellowyellow, my disc (bought new) came with an aluminium adaptor to offset it to the same position as the standard XS disc, I can strip it down next weekend & take pics & dimensions if this will help but it depends on the Ducati disc offset. On my caliper adaptor I recessed it around the fork leg mounts by 4mm (same effect as 4mm spacers placed between adaptor & caliper.)(see previous posts on page 1 for pic)
Once again this will vary depending on your set up. You may need to offset the rotor more to clear spokes etc.......

As far as I know all Yamaha blue spot calipers are the same whether off Fazer 600, Fazer 1000, R6 or R1. (they are handed of course, left or right)They changed to Gold spot later, dont know if these are different

KevC, it's too bad you aren't making these caliper adapters. I would pay good money for a set. The Fishhead Brakes are nice, but he doesn't sell the calipers adaptors solo...only the whole kit, which I don't need. It's funny, I didn't get aluminum spacer with my XS rotors, how thick is it. Mine fit ok.

Thanks

Thanks for the info Kev, as far as strippin you bike down for me thats a very nice offer but it will be a couple weeks before I get all the parts and probley another couple weeks before I find time to get to it. Once I get all the parts I will more than likely have a couple questions for but until then its just a waiting game (as always)
Thanks again bud.

Yeah, wish I was in a position to help out because I kept the fixture I made & the tooling. Unfortunately since being made redundant, I no longer work on CNC machines tho Im still in engineering, so maybe one day. :shrug:My disc was an earlier one to which MikesXS now sells so may be different?
As far as the aluminium adaptor, never took any measurements, knew I should of at the time. Ill probably whip it off next weekend, might be useful information for people. would be very easy to make with a lathe & mill.
good luck with the projects everyone :bike:
