Sorry to hijack your thread Norton7d!

I chimed in because I’d like to emulate something similar with the wheels I’m building and wondered how to achieve it.

I assume the nipples will have to be steel as anything else wouldn’t be strong enough alloy, brass etc...?

Following Norton76 ;) watching it seems your wheels cleaned up very nicely with little buffing effort ? The spoke nipples shown look just as nice as any I’ve seen so I’m concluding that your Citrus paint stripper did eat off the stock transparent coating on the aluminum rim yet did not eat off the goldish plating of the spoke nipples.
Here is my 16” rear wheel waiting for the very same treatment.

Very nice indeed! What steps do you take to get those results?

I’ve just began learning to polish.

The same citrus stripper to get rid of the factory clear coat I used on my wheels.
Polish with "white" rouge on my 3/4 HP polisher, nuthin to it, half hour later it looks this...but do it outside as it is a dirty job.

What’s the name of the citrus paint stripper you use? Not that we’ll necessarily get it in the UK anyway.

I want to remove the factory clear coat on my forks lowers so I can remove casting flaws and polish them.

Mounting a 750 swingarm, I removed the original 750 chain guard mounts which are different than 650 mounts, and installed a 10mm rivnut so I can use a 650 chainguard.

A rivnut, I like that. Seems much simpler and easier than welding something in there. What type did you use? Steel, stainless steel, aluminum?
