My first ever bike build!!

So I have been busy the last couple of days making my alternator cover.......

I still need to cut the bolts short to fit the cover to the engine.

I can't wait to see it on the bike!!

So are you going to start mass producing those things now. :poke: In all honesty that looks pretty damned good. Just out of curiosity how many hours would you say you have in the fabrication of that one?

If I had a stamp or a cutter that is programmed to cut it up, yeah sure I'll mass produce! But as I have done this all by HAND(Ok, hand drill, dremil, files and fret saw included!:D), sorry but no!

All in all, I would say probably about 14hrs worth of hard labour went into this. The brass and copper are quite thin (0.5mm) so I had to sandwich then between to bits of wood to cut them without bending the edges. Then a lot of cutting with a fret saw, some drilling of holes to get the nice round ends and the holes for the bolts, a LOT fo filing, and then finishing it all off with a dremil.

Not sure if I want to do this again!!!!

And thanks BTW!!

That cover looks wicked Man!
It should look cool on there, or will it?
I'm thinking it won't look right on your engine.
Yes I think you should pack it up and send it to me.
And I'll paint it RED!
Yep Ya created another piece of fine art.:thumbsup:
Keep up the good work!

So I installed the cover today. Spent another hour cutting the bolts shorter so they dont protrude out the back.

Here it is fitted........

I like it a lot!!:D

Very cool indeed! :laugh::laugh:

Thanks Carbon!

Decided to mount the electrics inside the fake tank

I installed the fuse box and flasher relay on a bit of Styrene.

Neodymium magnets hold it down so it doesn't rattle along

Boyer box underneath, I'll wrap it in some foam to protect it.

And it all fits inside!!!:D

Thanks bud! Wait until the wires go in there!!

Heard that! When organizing my electronics box I thought "wow this is going to look so neat and organized"

Only 1/3 of the way done with wiring. Looks like a bomb went off

Yours is looking good though!

Today I fitted an old school Harley kick pedal.

I like the big wide bit of rubber and I guess it gives better footing. Also, no loss of shin skin when the foot slips!

So here it is. Bog standard.

I proceeded to remove the rubber(It tore a bit when I tried pulling it off, so I cut it down the one end, and later glued it back with CA, works a treat!), and drill out the spot welds. I also cut a slot in there to fit over the Original kicker, you will see what I mean n a bit

Original Kicker stripped off to reveal the shaft.

And here it is before I riveted it together.

Rivet the lot together, and slip the rubber back over, job done!!

Thanks John! Can't take credit for the idea, saw it on the interweb somewhere! I'll snap a pic of it on the bike tomorrow when I can.
