New project underway

Good evening everyone. Got my hands on a 1980 XS650 special II and started my teardown today. It has been sitting garaged for about 5 years but seems to be in good shape. Removed the OE original carbs to be rebuilt as I'm sure they are gummed up with old fuel. Will be eventually building a bobber style bike. Not a while lot of questions at this point, but excited to see this thing finished. Just stopping by to say hello as I am new to the forum. I'm sure questions will arise as this project seems to be more difficult than originally thought.

That one looks dry. Hasn't been under water.

It did not go under water. My grandfather bought it new and was running up to 5 years ago when he quit riding. I picked up and decided to fix her up a bit. And even though I'm in Houston, she didn't flood.

Jason just a suggestion. Get it running and ride it abit before making any changes. While these have a huge fan base they aren't everyone's cup of tea.
