Where it all begins...got this 18k mile 1980 special for $200 and an old crappy .22 rifle that I never shot anyway. Hope the story of this bike ends as good as it started!

Well,I guess I'm next.Took this on trade for a pos Durango I had.Supposedly ran 2 years ago_Only thing it had going for it was the longer tubes.Never measured them but they seem to be 4-6 over.

I'll be sending out a p.m. with info for all the builders tomorrow in a.m. so if u want in and haven't sent me a p.m. plz do!

23 builders are in if u got the p.m. USE THIS THREAD FOR YOUR BUILDS POSTS UPDATES and good luck to everyone!

just to verify, everyone should use this thread for build updates? Isn't that going to get a bit disorganized quick? should we maybe have our own threads?

quick question, wasn't there a link about titles in the forum? The guy got my bike from is "working" on getting the title. the frame and motor numbers match, if he drops the ball cani do it myself? any thoughts. the bike has been in there family for 20+ years. cant get ahead:banghead:

I'm using motorecyclenow.com ... I'm gonna start my teardown, but don't plan on actually purchasing anything till I have a title in hand. Costs $150-$200.

damn...didn't even pay that much for the bike...someones getting a pair of irish sunglasses if he dooped me :(

If any of y'all who are building 2 bikes need a second rider, my brother and I are only building 1 bike, so one of us (probably me since I've been riding alot longer) would be happy to do the ride for you. We're planning on riding down with the group from Michigan. I'm guessing y'all already have it figured out, just thought we'd throw it out there.

To clarify, I'd only use a title service if you couldn't get it in a more straightforward manner. Here in Texas, the title holder can file for lost title for about $6, but it has to be in their name. In my case, I knew the bike had no title, and basically got it for free anyway, so I don't mind the expense.

well this dude said its been in the family for ever and that they just lost it...so if his pot head ass cant get to the dmv im hoping I can get it myself...lol im ready to drop some dough tomorrow/Saturday for parts and if I get em and cant get a title, im stuck buying another xs...not that theres nothing wrong with that...but pretty expensive lesson learned and definitely will disown this dude

Love seeing all these ol' dirty xs's ppl find laying around! Can't wait to see them progress and get some pictures up of my own. Good luck everyone.
