Chucked the stem/triple in the lathe and turned off the weld. pressed the stem down and rewelded.Just found this thread, catching up.
Going back a few posts - So, to solve the "stem is to long to snug up the bearings" issue, you machined a flat on the bottom of the bottom triple and then pressed it a little further onto the stem?
Eagle eyes! Yeah was messing with using those, they are SO cool looking, clearance is pretty tight.Hmmm. I see hiding Hammerheads..........

YES! But I've done it before with nothing more than an angle grinder...Ah. Should've realized it was welded. Nice fix!

The lathe must've shook like a dog crapping peach pits with that chucked up and spinning!
