Ok so this will be my first full build. I've done a couple other bikes but just with simple mods like new back half and lowered seat height. This time though i'm going to build pretty much a whole new frame. I picked up an 81 650 with 1900 miles on it from a guy for $300 just so he could get it out of his yard. I really don't like the high neck tiny tank type stuff so i'm going for a more low and sleek look. Going to go with a visable back bone with what i'll call saddle tanks. Curved down tube, backbone and hardtail to match. Going to keep the engine stock aside from a single carb conversion and custom exhaust. Thinking about building a leaf spring front end, i figured it would look good with the wheels. Those are going to be 21" spokes front and back. Ground clearance i should be right around 4" from the bottom of the frame.

First things first though i had to build a frame table. Luckily my job was getting rid of an old 3M tape machine so i got it before it went in the dumpster. After removing all the internal crap i extended it, moved the trape thingy to the front so i could use that to hold the neck and welded in a few x beams and voila an adjustable frame table.

Enough typing onto the pics.

The day i got the bike

Little farther along. I rolled a backbone that I think will be the arch I'm going for, now I just need to go pick up some tubing tomorrow. Got a guy buying one of my project bikes so that'll add some funds to this project. I was happy to find that when i pulled the rocker covers off and everything is spotless inside, guess it really does have 1900 miles on it.

Got a tubing roller so I could do the frame and had nowhere solid to mount it... Problem solved.

Also got the frame jigged up. Just need to get some cones for the neck.

Just picked up my wheels and then some. Got everything in the picture for $20 bucks. Just need to get a rear hub and lace it up. Plus from what I've read you can use 19" laces and it just so happens there's a 19" wheel in this bundle.

No clue to be honest. I only wanted the wheels but he threw everything in. I'm building a leaf spring front end so axle size doesn't matter. Plus I'm not using the brake anyway.
