Mannulus Mechanica (build thread)

Brazing the top on the tank looks MUCH better, big tanks to @Jim for recommending and loaning me his Smiths Light Duty air frame torch it was much easier to control the heat with the smaller torch. The smaller torch combined with proper flux and proper 1/16” nickel bronze rod made the top a much easier weld and much prettier.

Been said a gazillion times...... you're only as good as your tools.
But it’s a poor craftsman that blames his tools

I was going to make a shelf for the kitchen of laminated chipboard
I had bought a cheap circular saw $ 28 700 W
year 2012 ..I took it out started and before halfway smoke was coming out of the motor
the rotor was fried
Becoming the machine with the least " mileage " of every tool i have had..
Finished off with a handsaw.
Started to look around ...there are saws for sale around $ 700 $ 1200 ..
That is a big step from $ 28 -- $ 1200 ..
I bought another one 1300 W for $ 50
I have only tested it .. and I know it is a cheap thing again
But a positive sign is no smoke out of the electric motor yet.
I have a small angle grinder for one hand .. i payed $ 10 for 20 years ago
Still working strange enough.
So tools do matter but what a $1200 circular saw can do is not so easy to understand
But I have not tested it

I believe it was Frank Zappa that said quality isn't necessarily related to cost... or words to that effect.

A wood circular saw is something that every household shouldn’t be without. In the US Milwaukee is the industry standard. But I like my hand saws as well. I have full compliment of hand saw, rip, cross, panel, carcass. I also a full handsaw maintenance set up, saw vise, set, files. I’ve actually brought a few old Diston’s back from the dead.

Late ratchet top 4spd (pan head) kicker gets the kicker in way tighter than the shovelhead/ironhead kicker did.
Not to mention that checking the oil on the road might get a bit dicey too... :yikes:

It looks a lot closer than it is, it’ll no doubt be warm but shouldn’t be to much trouble. I do try and check my oil before I leave, and typically if there isn’t any oil coming out of the bike the level tends to stay about the same.

You gonna add a slight horseshoe bend there to give the kicker more room or just let it be?
