Interesting motorcycles, not XS650

While watching a video on Thailand long tail boats, they included footage of their drag racing small displacement 2 stroke bikes. Iirc they were 125-150cc. Performance was amazing.

Here‘s a link. Watch worthy. When racing after they launch, many put up their feet and shift with their hand. Crazy bikes and riders!

Yes please. I watched most of the boat video but found the host/narrator annoying.

I have heard stories about street racing in Bangkok. Not seen it myself.
This is many years ago i heard it 15 - 20
A Friend from School is working in Thailand and another Friend visits him Telling stories afterwards.
The story was that street racing was going on at nights at the harbor .
Maybe this type
Crossing roads was blocked and the racing going on.
I heard that the money part was significant Side betting which is popular in Asia
and at other places. Horses and so. Here is a stack of cash seen. And a Book Maker.
And maybe price money
Apparently attracting crowds watching and betting Then also.

The Police was there ..closing public roads for racing is of course something they want to check.
Directing traffic. Keeping peace.
So there was a part of that Cash stack that ended up in the Police forces pockets . If not No Racing.
Would break it up according to the story.

I once saw Road racing World Championships with small Displacement bikes I will never forget it.
They had many gears and the torque curve was such that the right gear and rev was important .Or it did not go fast.
There was a Spanish Driver with a much later brake point than the others.
After the long straight... flat out ..there was a 90 degree bend. . He overtook just before the bend
And then braking .He then himself got overtaken by the others that had put in their money on power instead of brakes. This was going on for many laps of the race and the Spanish driver at the end came in after the others.
There was a straight long enough for the others to go past him.
But the racing was more interesting than the big bikes then . More overtakings and more even Machines.

When I was in my early 20's I remember going to a Honda Dealership in Vernon BC. There sat what I thought and still think was one of the mose beautiful machines ever made. A modern classic. It was curvy and had a sound I had never heard before. A performance V-Twin with a gear drive timing system that whined like a supercharger plus radiators on the side of the bike. What was this madness!!??? Exotic, fast, belowing sound, curvy body work, big dual round headlights behind a blunted nose...Years later I finally got one. I got an ulta low vin 2000 Honda RC51. I kept it for about 3 years but it only rode it here and there. I put IXIL exhaust on it which sounded glorious but it was hard to handle compared to my Versys and my FZ1 that sat in the shop beside it. After an hour I would be almost crippled riding it since i am a tall guy so it eventually was sold to a collector but if I could ever find it again and just have it to look at and listen to I would in a heartbeat.

What a lovely old bike!

Was talking to a chap with a pre-WW1 flat tank bike at the Jimmy Guthrie memorial run. He said the bike started and ran and was pretty reliable BUT the thing that prevented it being daily rider was the brakes. Or to be more accurate, everybody else's brakes. He said it's fine on a clear road, you slow down well in advance and rarely need to stop unexpectedly. But you can't drive in any traffic because people in cars or on bikes just apply their brakes without even thinking about it. Giving the guy on the old flat tank bike a scary moment every time.
