I have an ad up in classifieds for a seat and I was contacted by a person who had joined the website only 13 hours before and said he knew a guy who had what I wanted. I contacted the person through the included email address and then was taken on a ride that in the end smelled so fishy that I quit. If anyone prices the item significantly below market value and then has photos dated from years earlier and won't send a video with them and the item but says that if you pay half they will send it and when you are satisfied you can send the other half I just have to think this is not right.

Give us his name and I'll ban him before he scams anyone else.

Future reference.... anyone you don't know and trust gives you an email to contact "someone else" .... it's a scam, plain and simple.
Report 'em!!

Yes you have to keep your eyes open but don't paint with too broad a brush. There's a HUGE number of square dealers here, and I dare say it's safer than most marketplaces. FB I'm looking at you!
There's a fair number of us sniffing out scammers, one suspicious character was banned yesterday morning.
 
This is definitely a hoax. I fell for it the week prior with a 75b part out.Yep,it got me for $159 w/shpng &p/pal. I let my guard down this once for a front wheel and it got me.Nobody’s to blame but me! I know better.Beware of this one.🤬

I may add that on parts and discussions it’s not out of the ordinary for the need to friend someone to be able to p/m to purchase.Never any problems and I Always get a tracking # it’s getting shipped before payment.This time seeing how it was in a quick driving range I offered to come pickup the wheel and view the rest for possible purchase.Nothing unusual on my part however here’s the thing that I should have quit immediately.Did not want anything to do with me stopping by!!!Every quick excuse was given so I dropped my shield and sent a p/pal$ without a tracking #. I was caught up in making sure to get the wheel coming I was gobbled up and the rest is a good lesson.🤷‍♂️👍

In summary;Lawson Scott on F/bk looked like a good young family guy with a wife and kid,hey now that’s good folks i’m thinking.That guy I assume doesn’t have a clue he’s being solicited but that’s the strategy to this type…..Done

Still recovering from the wack on the head in Manilla. I needed $ for hotel and trip out.

It was sent to a few dudes at work. I never knew.(similar to grandson asking pa for bail money)

For the very important biz man in Nigeria that will buy my bike, sight unseen.
Cashiers check for a few $$ asking.
Protogue' will pick-up. Nope. (ebay)

They will in some cases. I immediately started a claim however in this instance I made the payment as I have always done and they’re claiming nothing fraudulent with that at this point. I have furthered the claim to be investigated by them and is in review at this point.There is a 45 day window.

Yep. I also do the let’s exchange ph#’s first or I end the conversation. I got one from him right off the get go but didn’t call it for verification and by then I’d been had.And yes your p/pal point is definitely agreed.This was my first when he insisted friends and family is how it should be paid.That I didn’t know.I do now!Good point.
