    Intake joint gasket replacement

If you are like me, you probably do not look forward to removing and replacing the carb set on your later model XS650 with co-joined bodies. Sure if you remove the cam chain adjuster crown nut, and remove the carburetor joints (manifolds) the job is a treat. But removing the joints can be a...

    Cable lubrication

I have a pressure lube adapter for cable lube and I have used various spray lubes (WD40 variety) to lube the cables which is thin and watery. Seems like a little more "body" would be desirable. Would spray White Lithium Grease work well for this application? Thanks Glenn

Recently I was hard at work putting my "Dirty dog" into some semblance of presentable and encountered the common carburetor drool with the vacuum petcock. Yes, I know I need to dig in to the carburetors again to fix the float seat o-ring. But as a temporary and quick fix I thought I could cure...

    Rotor rewind regret

I bought a 1980 XS a few years ago as a project bike. Within 1 week it was running like a scared deer. My only problem was that it would drain the battery. After doing only a very little research on the web I found that the XS650 was notorious for shorted rotors. I then started to...
