    My once a year update...

For the past 6 years I've been tinkering with my XS every winter so that I have it back on the road for the riding season. This winter I powder coated/ polished the wheels. I figure 2 more winters and I'll be done...I think. Here's some pics of my updates...

    XS2 street tracker --champion style

So I've had my xs2 for a few years and ride it spring/summer/fall and have been working on it each winter. I think I'm one more winter away from finishing (wheels and motor). I just got my tank and seat pan (that took almost all winter to build) painted by a good friend and I think he knocked...

After powdercoating the frame -- now she wont start

I've run out of ideas so I come to you guys. I have a '72 XS2 that I stripped down over the winter and had the frame powder coated. Previous to that -- the bike ran perfect all last year with no problems at all. So now I have a problem -- after getting the bike back together -- she will not...

Aluminum rims vs OEM steel rims

I'll be starting on my wheels soon and wanted to get some opinions...If I wanted to go with black rims --- would it be wiser to just powder coat the OEM's which are steel or would it be a noticeable handling upgrade with the lighter weight to go with aluminum rims say from MikesXS?

What are these worth? Kawi H1 & H2

So I followed a co-worker to his house to check out 2 bikes he wants to get rid of (as a set)--both 1972's Kawi H1 & H2. They are both in rough condition-- the H2 turns over with the kick start but the H2 doesn't. Co-worker says of course they both ran before he put them in the shed several...

    XS2---StreetTracker slowly coming together

I finally found someone who can bend 3/4" tubing 180 degrees so this weekend I'll be having a rear frame hoop welded on to look like the champion style frame. Once that's done I'll be fabricating a champion style seatpan out of fiberglass which may take a while since I've never done it before...

For Sale - MotoLanna --- Chain Guard --- stainless steel

I was gonna use this chain guard from Motolanna to replace the oem but decide to go without any even though my state requires it for inspection. The piece is new (never installed) and I paid $74 plus $51 for shipping (made in Thailand) and is a nice minimalist alternative to use instead of the...

    Longer clutch actuator worm arm?

I was just on eBay looking at a '72 xs650 that was cafe'd and painted bright yellow and read in his description that he replaced the original clutch actuator worm arm with a later model year one because it was made longer making the clutch easier to pull. Is this in fact true and if so--- what...

Anyone with a 3/4" OD pipe bender to about 150 degrees?

It seems a bit of a challenge to find anyone in my area that has a 3/4" OD pipe bender that will go past 90 degrees. I have an xs2 being converted (slowly) to a street tracker and I'm cutting off the existing frame hoop behind the shocks and want to add a new one to fit a champion style seat...

New throttle cables (& lubed) and still not smooth...

So I have an '72 xs2 that is slowly being converted to a tracker and I recently replaced the (2) separtate throttle cables and still have major "stick-tion" (if it's not a word it should be). When you pull the throttle back slowly it feels severly notchy. The routing is perfect, the butterfly...

    Deltfabrication still alive?

I emailed this guy several times but no response. Wanted to see if he ever made the motor mount for the earlier frames ('70-"73). Anyone have any info?

    Original XS2 on ebay a 743cc (1 of 200) ---ligit?

There's a 1972 XS2 on ebay stating it's 1 of 200 that were 750's. If this is ligit is it just the cylinder that is different?

Very basic LED turn signal wiring question

I did a search in the archives and couldn't find anything on the very basic wiring for LED turn signals. I took my original turn signals off (they all worked) and replaced them with a set of LED's and replaced the flasher to an LED flasher (LF1-S-flat) from superbrightleds.com as recommended on...

Why negative battery cable grounded to motor?

I was planning on moving the negative battery cable up on the frame to hide it rather than its original placement on the motor. My question is...what was the reason/benefit for being bolted to the engine?

Using 1 fuel valve for 2 carbs?

Will running a "y" splitter from one fuel petcock be able to supply both carbs with enough fuel or does another petcock have to be added. Contemplating on using an older dirt bike tank on the xs but they always have only one valve.

Substitute for MotoLanna style chain guard ??

On motolanna.com there is a stainless steel chain guard that is exactly what I'm looking for but don't want to pay $60 in shipping to get it from Taiwan. Does anyone know of who makes a similar chain guard that it preferably made in the US?

'72 swingarm to a '76 swingarm ---not a bolt on??

I just joined the forum about a week ago and I already ran into a slight problem converting my '72 swingarm to a '76 that I just bought off ebay. I did a search and most of what I read made it seem as this was a simple bolt on change-- but that's not the case with mine. Wheel axle and swingarm...

    Just'a intro

Just wanted to hi--new to the forum but have been lurking for months. I have a '72 xs650 that I bought a few months ago -- recently got running and I'm slowly converting to a street tracker. I shaved a few things--added renthal mx bars, pods, scott gordon custom exhaust, and rejetted. That's...
