Hey everyone, I just bought an 81 xs650 and I would like to put a speedo/tach on it. It came with very minimal electronics so I am replacing the lights, adding turn signals, adding control switches, and I would like to add a speedo/tach. Is there any way to convert to a digital speedo instead of...
Hey guys,
I have been digging through a million posts and I am pretty stuck at this point. Im hoping one of you brilliant MFers can help me out.
I bent an intake valve after swapping new plugs and not checking clearances.. yea.. learned that lesson.
Anyway, I swapped that valve with a new...
Okily dokily.
I reckon this one could be a record breaker.
Not charging. XS650SH 81, but it’s the Australian one so it’s running on points. Oh yeah and separate mechanical regulator and rectifier. It’s as stock as possible. Have read loads, tested loads so let me give you a breakdown.

1981 xs 650 special part out. Everything is OEM. If I don't have it listed let me know, and I might have it.
Hi all. I'm going through boxes right now. I have a xs650 that was given to me. I'm going to be parting out a bunch of the parts as time goes on. Here is what I have to start. I'll add...
Hello,
I am working on an 81 XS650H for a friend. For a bit of backstory, it originally had pod filters and bad float needles. So, we found the original airbox, looks to be in good shape and new OEM filters and new OEM float needle assemblies (the entire assembly including the o-ring, not...
Thinking of switching to a sparto style taillight on my 81’ how does that end up needing to be mounted? What are my best options for that and for mounting a license plate holder as well. I do not have a bobbed back fender btw. All suggestions appreciated.
In need of a OEM speedometer for my 81’. The small bolts came loose, opened it up to fix that problem, get it all back together and now the needle won’t work. They make it really hard to do anything to the Speedo. So I’m looking for one I can just drop into the housing, if anyone’s got one...
The side covers on my 1981 XS650H are all banged up and the plastic knob that holds them onto the bike on the bottom is busted off both of them from taking them in and off and not being careful enough about it. Partzilla has them new in chrome but I am going to pain them black anyway. If anyone...
I have a 1981 XS650H and as you all know that seat is very bulky. I heard there was a company that used to make a flat seat that just clipped in without having to modify the frame. Wondering if anyone knows where I could find one? Thank you.

Hello all,
I have the guts from a 1975 447 motor but the case has unfortunately been tended to at some point by a chimpanzee. All four of the locating pins for the crank bearings on the upper case have been smashed in because the bearings weren't lined up properly when the halves were...

I have a 1981 xs650 I bought last summer (2016). Ran a bit rough but okay. I started putting pure gas in it and it ran better. Well the last time I rode it last year (~October) it gave me problems. I was out on a somewhat warm day and as I began to slow down to come to a stop it would die. Not...
