4th gear clip installation ?

Ordered new 4th gear clip for my bike. Would like to know the best way to install clip onto gear. Do not want to break it !! Thanks.

Do you mean the #4 starter gear? If so, snap the new drag clip over it from the top. Don't push it in from the side, that will spread it open too much and make it weak. It won't grip the gear and slow it down as it should, and the starter will grind. Test your new clip once installed though. It may need to be tightened up even though it's brand new. Thanks , got it installed. Got to go tomorrow and get a fish scale to get right tension on gear.
