Engine is out of the frame. Getting a shopping list together. So far I have the sump cover gasket (and possibly the MikesXS filter?) Will be able to reuse right side cover gasket. I need to add a gasket that'll go between the lower and main crankcases?

Anyone see anything I need to remove to be able to spilt the cases? I don't want to be banging on it if something is holding them together besides Yamabond...

Thanks for the direction Jim - just hoped extra eyes might see something obviously holding things together.

Edit: This engine had no nut on 16... not essential I guess - I will be replacing it with one all the same though!

The "most overlooked" ones are the nut behind the clutch and the two under the sprocket. . Appears that you got them. The rest are pretty obvious.
There's also 4 bolts topside aft.

While the rest of the guts seem in good shape, all tight and nothing wiggling and all spinning smoothly - that first gear needs a replacement. Oddly, nothing else looks out of line. Wonder what happened...

Although the drawing doesn't show it, there's usually a flat washer under the nut as well. I think it spreads the clamping force better on the slotted mount of the shift shaft protector.

Well, it's an external part. I don't know how it would get inside the engine. That washer is probably from somewhere else inside the motor.

Yep. Misidentified until I retrieved it. It's plastic.
