Are header pipes the same on all xs650s?

I have a '72, will '78 header pipes and exhast flanges fit on it?

P.S. I might stop asking stupid questions when my repair manual arrives. (MIGHT)

It looks like the bracketing changed on the rear of the 2 header pipes.
Probably because of the frame change?
The flange is probably the same but dropped from the parts list as an individual part because it is part of the header?

Gasket sets come in 2 varieties... early and late. Only 1 set of exhaust gasket is comes in each gasket set... Also aftermarket pipes are listed as early or late also, so suffice it to say, you should stick to that.

70-73
74-83 (which seem to be separated by special and standard, but I don't see why one won't work on the other, the frames are the same.)

the stud holes on the older models are smaller(maybe bigger, me drain is bamaged).
at any rate, the holes are different. but drilling them out is fine.
Also, although obvious, but nobody said it, the older head pipes have curves that follow the frame down tube, look way better than the later models with the arched headpipe
