I’m working on my car engine (on a stand) and will be applying storage spray to the valve train. This will involve spraying the valves through the intake and exhaust ports. Once done, I want to seal things up again for a while. The engine builder used some sort of masking tape that until now wad removable without leaving any residue. Now after being on there for several years, the tape is hard to remove and is leaving a mess to clean up. Any recommendations on what tape I should use to seal up the ports? Note the area behind the tape will be oily. Or should I stuff an oily rag into the port?
