Looks to me its from an older , 70's maybe , Yamaha 400 enduro or something of that time frame

That's definitely not a seat from a stock bike.

That seat is made by NitroHeads, I believe. Sold in Japan, but Pipeburn just became a dealer.

Or Google NitroHeads seats.

They're for the SR400 and SR500, but can be adapted to the 650 easier than most seats.

I've been eyeing that seat for a while. It's mounted on an SR400 (featured on bikeexif.com.

I called around town and got some quotes from upholstery shops on a seat like that, they were anywhere from $175 to $300.

I'm thinking your text was a typo... but that's most definitely mounted on an XS650.
