Unless you are planning on drag racing, IMHO straight pipes without baffles are extremely hard to tune, and sound terrible.

Don't let the title of the thread fool you, these baffles work on any length pipe. The longer the pipe, the shorter the baffle needs to be, and I currently always use a single bolt.
But, a lot depends on the diameter of the header and the pipe. If you are building a larger than stock diameter header, you will probably need more baffle.

built a 80 with an 83 motor used factory exhaust cut off just after the exhaust mount bolts no baffles at all runs like a spotted ape used the carb rebuild kit from 650central thing screams
