I have the right side cover off. Looking inside at the very bottom, I notice what looks like the end of a spring. This spring end has the exact same shape as an empty space sitting right next to it. Is it supposed to go into that space? photo attached.

The early e-starts used a spring made from smaller wire and did fit in that space. On the TX650A they started phasing in a new spring made from heavier wire, it no longer fit in that space, so they moved it to beside that space. By the XS650 C they were standard parts. In the early factory manuals it has this in a service bulletin.
