Electric Starter pinion shaft

I need to get this electric starter pinion shaft housing out of my case. There is a casting imperfection behind it and when I bead blasted my case, glass got in there. Anyone ever take this nasty thing out before? Bike will be kick only when done so......

I had the same thing with vapour blasted cases.

To remove the shaft heat the case up in a covered barbeque

Prop the case on its side with enough height for the shaft to fall clear. When the case gets hot enough the support will fall out under gravity. it does take a bit of heat.
