Hi, I have just bought an xs650 77' has 35mm stanchions.
I have noticed the stanchions protrude about 7 mm above the top yolk. Is this correct? Should they be level. Photo attached.
I'm 6ft 3 so probably would prefer the bike to be higher.
Any thoughts appreciated
Daniel

Yes, level is stock, but you can raise them a little like yours are. This lowers the front end slightly and more firmly plants the front wheel. This is an old road racer's trick. That's how I run mine .....

Thanks very much for your photo and knowledge! It's my first bike in 22 yrs I had loads when I was younger new, big, small and classic etc. I'm surprised by how powerful it is but I can't say I feel confident with the handling though, but I've only ridden it a few miles so far.
22k miles American import. It's weeping a little oil from the head gasket, I cleaned the barrels took it for a run and there was no oil so I guess it's a small leak otherwise the condition is remarkable.
Thanks again
Daniel
