Stumbled across this on the YouTube, never heard of such. Anyone ever seen or tried one? Wondering if it's just a big shot of snake oil or if it actually works.
Might be interesting just to see.

It may work for adjusting idle mixture, but hardly useful when riding. I would save the money, and save up for a wideband lambda setup instead.

I bought a Colortune plug years ago just to see if the gizmo was as useless as I figured it would be. It was. I gave it away, wouldn't take money for something I knew to be worthless.

My first thought was there is no way that "see-through" plug gizmo would fire the same as a regular plug would. Yeah, you might be able to see the pretty colors but not going to be anything like what's really happening inside the cylinder at ignition.

Back in the '70s, one of our mechanics got one of those. Interesting and fun to watch. However, since we all already knew how to tune by ear, smell, feel; it simply added precious time to doing a tuneup, or configuring a new engine/carb setup. Probably useful to someone learning about carb tuning...

I used these once to tune the dual carburetors on my '71 Spitfire. It was a perfect way to adjust the mixture and I was very pleased with the result. So much so that I recently bought another set to tune my '69 Mercedes. Highly recommended.

I kinda view it like musical instrument tuning.

Some folks tune by tuning fork or the electronic tuner.

Some folks tune by ear.

Some folks (like me) shouldn't tune by ear, and use the tuner...

well if its fessin up time I admit I bought one some years back to see if it was useful but never got around to trying it out.

Like 2M I have always used my ears eyes nose and other simple tests for classic 50s 60s and 70s vehicles
