Maybe i'm being too over paranoid about this, but it just popped into my head recently.

Bought a frame awhile back, the owner had all ready raked it. Thought it was all good, etc... etc...

Until today, i was just day dreaming and realized that if the rake had gone a little to the left or the right, it could make a huge difference when i put forks on it.

I'm i being over cautious? or am i justified to think this? i intended to check it out when i get to it. Is there any sure way to make sure the rake was done straight and properly?

I think it's very justified to worry about the previous owner's work especially when it comes to your frame. I'm not sure how to go about making sure it's straight but I'm sure there are a few ways to do it. Do you know if the frame was raked while in a jig?

put in the rear axle, put a level on it and level the frame. then put a level on the neck, it should 90 degrees to the axle
