The ducks were NOT impressed.
DSCN1296.JPG
I used to call them bobbers because they reminded of fishing bobbers.
Many years ago I was on a ride around Lake Michigan. I had a girl with me and we spent the night at St.Saint Marie. Next to the hotel was water. Imagine that. Anyway there was a bunch of them close to shore. She asked me what they were. I explained they were a type of duck and that's the way they feed. I then mentioned that if you threw a pack of opened soda crackers in the middle of them they would react and change. She said bullshit whatever could they do. I said they would become soda quackers. She smacked me! Was a good night tho.

A "just ride" story...
Fella flew to San Diego from Australia, bought a used KTM 400-500 and rode to LaPaz Mexico to enter the Baja 1000. With out pit crew, spares and the first time he ran the course, he finished in the Iron Man class (ride 1100 miles solo), Cool story.https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=880835990071355&set=a.202547647900196&__cft__[0]=AZVK30G93GgLG7aUVBpRZpKbRoRVjUIa7K4IllsAk5NSL2_8DUma-R6xF-gGeAZ8Cqs-UXKP11KTRod-oue4kjqHwxlOfqg3umTg7OEiHuWPXGfUygDmYtHoWWEbsUkztSJkOk5S_0GoL792LX_k2kqHiwRV5E9B_x1RnYoqd19LtbnpP4aEobvmN6mi6FfLJ0uQTpJXAZCnnPGpSncrMuP3&__tn__=EH-y-R

Nope, not that Elvis......this one.

In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve decided to name my bike. I never have done that before, but I figured if I was ever going to do that, this is THE ONE.

So Elvis was in need of a proper road trip. I built this bike to ride and so I shall, as beautiful as it is, I hope to use it up before I’m all used up!

This morning was beautiful out, 70 degrees and sunny with a few fluffy white clouds, a perfect day for riding.
I was thinking about the ride as I was suiting up this morning, Elvis was patiently chuffing away.
Today I’m heading for Lake Pleasant regional park. As I was riding onto the property I couldn’t help notice how the hillsides were covered with native Palo Verde trees in bloom, there were also thousands of Saguaro cactus.

When I arrived at the lake, I was pleasantly surprised to see the the lake was full. It has been a very long time since that has happened. In fact almost all the Arizona lakes are full, due to heavy winter rain and snow fall. We have been in such an extended drought here it’s a big relief to see water in the lakes again.

There is a floating Marina with a restaurant out there.

Turkey vultures were thick above the lake today, riding thermals coming off of the cliff faces.

I was really hoping to photograph some sailboats on the water today but no joy. Nothing but fishermen and pontoon boats and jet skis.

They have camp grounds and picnic ramadas and a very nice visitor center where you can learn the history of the lake and the dams construction and the history of the native Americans that once populated this region and also all about the native wildlife. It’s very nice and free to the public.

A birds eye view of the dam, which is a modern earthen dam, which is surprising complex in its construction.

Well I’ve explored every road and camp ground and the visitors center and with that , it’s time to leave.

75 miles of some pretty hard riding and it never missed a beat!

Nice to see the side hack. Wondering if I should pick one up for the wife? She has a GS500 Suzuki, but we are getting up there in years. So it might soon be time for a third leg...

You’ll enjoy it.Set up correctly, its a new twist to motorcycle riding. I’m older now as well and besides always enjoying rebuilding and preserving older m/c s’ the 3rd leg factor was on my mind when I decided to set this outfit up.

I’ve got this for a couple of days in Los Angeles. The weather is perfect.
LA isa general description of Southern California. A vast cornacopia of riding opprotunities. West along the coast near Thousand Oak is Mullholand Highway and the Rock store. South east into or beyond Orange County is Salten Sea and 73? North and east are Foothills with fabulous roads to enjoy. Post pics.

magoo66,

Couple questions on the sidecar. First what is the vertical pipe that is about even with the sidecar windshield for? Maybe a hand hold for some one or camera mount? Second is, maybe just the camera angle but, the sidecar tire looks a bit on the large size for a small sidecar.

I did a good bit of that yesterday. I’d describe it as filtering. I noted that some motorists have learned to expect it.
I've never quite understood about filtering/lane splitting in USA. Is it a crime in all States or is it legal in some not others or do some States have conditions like you can only filter while the traffic is stationary. Or not while the traffic is stationary?

In Britain, filtering is legal unless you are 'riding dangerously', which is also illegal when you're not filtering. So filtering is fine as long as you are sensible.

We have a hodgepodge of fiefdoms here Raymond... no national law on the matter.
Just looked and there's 5 states where it's allowed and 34 where it's prohibited by law.
But here's the rub... there's 11 states where it's neither allowed nor prohibited by law. So you might or might not be ticketed, depending on the officers mood I suppose.
