Hey guys,

I bought a set of used Mike's XS rear shocks, specifically these:

My bike is at my friend's shop for a custom wiring harness job so I asked him to throw them on as well. He said the only way they fit is upside down, because the bottom is too wide and the chain rubs, and also the brake side reservoir needs to be forwards because the caliper is in the way.

I guess he can make a bracket for the caliper to go underneath the rotor, but what about the chain? Is it bad to run them like this?

Define "upside down"?

As designed by Honda.

Those shocks on an 81 special frame.

Springs may hit mounted other end up, you may end up spacing out the shocks for clearance. Would have to move the brackets out on the swing arm.

Sorry Gary by upside down I was referring to the remote reservoir located on the bottom instead of the top. I've never seen a remote rear shock reservoir like this and I would actually prefer it up top. Wondering what I have to do to make these fit right.
