Bicycle risers (7/8) off of amazon /ebay
Bicycle handlebars (32 in long 7/8 dia)

it bolts to the front motor mount
and can be cut to your desired lenghth
Looks good, comfy and best of all
not a lot of dinero out of your pocket!

I like it, but I'd appreciate more pics. A pic from farther away (in good light) showing the over-all effect, and a pic that shows how it bolts to the motor mount.

I'm not a big fan of "highway" pegs but then again, I ride a standard XS. Yes, they can provide a nice diversion during hours in the saddle, if you could actually spend hours on an XS 650. What I found is that with your feet stuck out in front of you on those pegs, the center of gravity of the bike changes. You notice it when you ride into a nice sweeping curve and all of a sudden things feel a little strange. If you ever look at a picture of Robert E. Lee on his horse, his feet are always right under him.

    UPDATE!!
    sorry for the bad pics
if ya have the chrome motor mount as shown
in the pic below, installation was a snap!

as you can see the risers bolted
into the slots on the motor mount
I then cut the drag bar to my desired lenght
based on comfort and how far it stuck out
    on the sides

    UPDATE #2
after assembly and cutting the bar to my desired Length
I double checked how far it stuck out on the sides
I tried to eyeball my new fandangled front pegs
to make sure it was even with the normal foot pegs
as shown in the pic below

    I'm close..LOL

The bars diameter in question is 7/8
    if I wanted padding
    black grips for 7/8 bars
    are everywhere and cheap!

HOTEL71 is to be commended for an innovative use of readily available and relatively inexpensive materials. This is far better than universal clamp-ons off a shelf.
Ad the no-slip-off feature of inexpensive grips and you're done !
