Need help with Ignition Mechanical Advance assembly

Hello,
My Haynes manual does not address this action.

I'm trying to replace the ignitions mechanical advance plate assy.

I removed the weights and springs and tried to back the star nut off but it seems to bind when I get it off so far. It will not come all the way off the unit. The whole shaft turns.

Can someone please give step by step on how to R&R the whole assy?
